Emma Hjalmarsson

I am a specialist paediatric physiotherapist and postdoctoral researcher at Karolinska Institutet, working within the Unit for Neuropediatrics at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health. My research focuses on physical activity, exercie, muscle function, and motor development in children with cerebral palsy and neuromuscular disorders such as spinal muscular atrophy, with a particular interest in exercise interventions and assessment methods. I completed my PhD in 2023 at Karolinska Institutet, where I investigated Frame Running as a health-promoting exercise modality for individuals with cerebral palsy, and I currently hold a clinical research position funded by Region Stockholm. Alongside my research, I work clinically at Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital and collaborate nationally and internationally on studies in paediatric rehabilitation.
